Best Foods for Watching Sports: AFL

This is the greatest AFL season in living memory.
Any team can statistically make the final. This means one thing. More time on the couch from Friday until Sunday – every week to the end of September!
Be Prepared for All Situations
- Expect numerous calls and text messages inviting you to come over and watch the football.
- Be ready for unexpected guests dropping on short notice.
- Prepare for big days and entire weekends at home.
- Prepare to host the lads at your place for the big games.
Assess Your Options: The Best Place to Watch Football
If you are given the choice to go out and watch the football consider these things.
- How many people will be attending?
- What is the level of comfort at the venue?
- What do you need to bring?
- What snacks are going to be made available?
Hosting the Best AFL Party
If you are hosting the party then observe the rules. Don’t overload the couch, make sure you have some drinks and put on some snacks, mate!
For easy AFL snacks just drop in at the supermarket on the way home. Grab some decent and substantial snacks and not just a bag of Barbeque flavoured chips.
Go with the BBQ pork buns and Crazy Dragon dumplings which are the perfect thing for the boys and ready in under 10 minutes. Or you could get the old party pies or sausage rolls but they take a bit longer to cook and are bit messy. With dumplings there is no plate required. No mess and no fuss.
Pork Buns are the AFL Champion: The No Mess Party Finger Food
If the weather does not allow for using the barbeque to cook up sausages, then this is the indoor option.
Things to Do After The Football
If things are serious and you are staying at home to watch your team then you need a stacked freezer. If things don’t go well you will be staying in.
Prepare for the AFL Football
After you knock off on Friday:
- Pull into Coles or Woolworths.
- Make a beeline for the frozen foods aisle. Avoid throwing out a ‘don’t argue’!
- Throw a selection of Crazy Dragon Dumplings and BBQ Pork Buns in the basket
- Hit the condiments and sauces aisle for soy and sweet chilli.
- Put through your purchase at the self service kiosk.
- Get out of there. Bounce-down is coming!
WARNING: Please Eat Dumplings Responsibly.
